Hello Jennifer,

The paint colour in Michael's living room is a bit of a long story! Here is his response:

I loved Farrow & Ball's "Blue Ground" but because there isn't a ton of good light in our living room I was afraid it would be too dark.

Then I found out from another editor that Farrow & Ball doesn't mess with the shades of their colours (you can't get a colour lightened). So I took the colour card (F&B's Blue Ground) to a Sherwin-Williams store and had it matched. BUT, I had them mix the colour at 50% strength so it wouldn't be too dark. That's the final colour - Farrow & Ball's Blue Ground, colour-matched at Sherwin-Williams, and mixed to 50% strength.

One final tidbit - I recently found a piece of a robin's egg shell on the sidewalk and took it home, because I said to my wife that I wanted to get IT matched for a paint colour. I've always loved the true robin's egg colour and it's hard to find. When I got home, I put the little piece of egg shell up against our living room walls and it was an EXACT match! I'm not kidding, it was perfect! So if you want true robin's egg blue walls get Blue Ground matched and mixed at 50%.

I hope that helps, Jennifer!
