TV: Episode 1 - Is There Hope For The Eighties?
Lynda tours two overhauled condos from the eighties and wonders if there is hope for the decade of bad design after all.
Here at the magazine, we have a kind of shorthand we use to describe our favourite design styles. If someone says loft, it means open, airy, young and hip. If someone says '70s, it means vintage, retro, and fun. But if someone says '80s, it is not a good thing. It was all about glitz with too much pink granite, vertical blinds, brass faucets and mirror everywhere. Let's face it, the '80s were a low point in design. What worked on Dynasty and Dallas did not stand the test of time. However, it was a boom period for developers and there are a lot of condos built in the '80s, so is there hope for an '80s condo?Log in to write a comment about this video or share your tips and questions in our forums.
